Villa Description
Swimming pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area

The large private south-facing swimming pool has Roman steps for easy access as well as a ladder. It can be accessed up 4 steps from the seating area in the villa. There is a raised sunbathing terrace to one side and another terrace is opposite. To the side of the villa is a pergola housing a dining table and chairs, plus brick BBQ and outdoor kitchen. This is ideal for alfresco meals. Next to it is a comfortable seating area and artificial lawn.

Please note that there is no access to the upper terrace next to the pool.


Entrance

The entrance is through double antique wooden gate from the side street, which leads you up 3 steps to the main entrance of the villa. Even though a car is not necessary, there is on road parking if you decide to hire one.


Living spaces

The main lounge is on the ground floor and revolves around a lovely indoor atrium garden. There is comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and a feature fireplace. Adjacent is a spacious and bright dining area with a table and chairs, plus large windows overlooking the pool which flood this room with natural light. From here you can access a seating room - another great place to chill out - which also has access to the pool area. The contemporary and well-equipped kitchen has a separate exit out to the rear of the villa.

On the first floor, there is a second lounge with sea views and a separate small dining area, plus a convenient small kitchen. This is great for families or couples travelling together who want a degree of independence.


Bedrooms and bathrooms

On the ground floor, there is a large double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and 2 twin bedrooms which share a separate bathroom with double sinks. On the first floor, you will find a double bedroom with a private terrace, which has a seating area. There is a twin bedroom and separate bathroom on this floor too. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated.


Games room

Between the ground floor lounge and dining room, you will find a set of steps going down into a large games room which is located under the outside pool terrace. It has an unusual window feature, goldfish bowl effect looking into the pool from underwater.

Villa Location
Villa La Cala Playa is in an ideal location in the heart of the popular resort of La Cala de Mijas within Mijas Costa close to Gran Hotel Costa Del Sol. The long stretch of sandy beach, shops, bars and restaurants are all within a few minutes' walk. This villa is a great choice for those who want to be in a central location and have all the facilities of a private villa. What's more, the towns of Fuengirola or Marbella can be easily reached by public transport or car. Our Villa Cala Beach is next door.

Local markets and shopping

There is a good number of shops within walking distance from the villa. La Cala de Mijas has a bi-weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Or, head to Fuengirola and enjoy one of the largest markets in the area on Tuesdays.


Bars and restaurants

You will be minutes away from the great selection of good quality eating places, modern cafe bars and beach front cafes.


Beaches

The main long sandy beach at La Cala de Mijas is a must for all the family and just think, you could almost fall out of bed onto the beach it's that close! Further afield, just a few miles away, try the sand dunes at Cabopino, or carry on along the coast to the resort of Marbella.


Family fun

Tivoli World is an attraction park, 30 minutes' drive away. You can also enjoy the Butterfly Park, Wolf Park, Crocodile Park, Bioparc which is Fuengirola Zoo and Selwo Marina World at the marina in Benalmadena. All these attractions and many more are an easy short drive away from Villa La Cala Playa and many are easily accessible by public transport.


Places of interest

Getting around further afield in the Costa del Sol is easy. Great days out would include a trip to Gibraltar, or, if you fancy a true Andalusian experience, the cities of Granada and Cordoba are just 1½ hours away and are steeped in Moorish history. The city of Malaga itself has an array of historical attractions and an impressive cathedral, not to mention a great day out for shopping.


Golf

The Costa del Sol is renowned for its extensive selection of golf courses, the closest ones to Villa La Cala Playa is El Chaparral course, La Cala Golf Resort and Santana Golf Club, but as you drive along the coast you will find many others.


Other activities

From the marina at Fuengirola or La Cala de Mijas you will also find a great selection of watersports from pedalos to jet skis. There is a large selection of boat trips to choose from in Fuengirola.

La Cala Golf
Without doubt, the La Cala complex located in breathtaking countryside is one of the best clubs on the coast with two stunning courses set in the heart of the Sierra Mijas. Both offer a good range of obstacles and water hazards and both are long courses so it is recommended that the not so fit hire a buggy! The North course is wider and longer than the South with the 16th hole sometimes proving difficult with its green surrounded by a lake. The 5th hole on the South course too requires an accurate drive to avoid the lake alongside. A popular club where over 90per cent of members are foreigners. Adddress. Mijas Golf
The two courses at Mijas Golf, Los Olivos and Los Lagos are challenging enough to satisfy players of all levels. Los Olivos is surrounded by olive trees in an attractive setting is fairly level and not too difficult while Los Lagos is on more hilly terrain with water hazards and consequently more difficult. Mijas Golf is the venue of many tournaments and benefits too from the Luxury Byblos Hotel right next door – a perfect spot for a golfing weekend. Watch out for the 5th hole of Los Lagos, with an enormous lake to the right of the green and a curving freeway to the left. Parque Acuatico Mijas
One of the most popular water parks on the coast is the Mijas Aquapark where the Adventure River ride, a 300ft winding raft slide awaits you.

Try surfing the wave pool or the huge kamikaze slide, bathe in the clear blue waters of the lake, or enjoy the twists and turns while speeding through the labyrinth slide to the pool at the bottom.

For young children and tiny tots Aqualandia has two water playgrounds and a shallow activity pool. All this set in lush gardens with a variety of sports facilities, great restaurants, picnic and bbq areas.

Tivoli World Amusement Park
At Tivoli World, has been offering families a fun day out for over 40 year. You are guaranteed unlimited thrills with well over 25 exciting rides to try out and Tivolilandia for the tiny tots. There are thrilling rides such as the Tivoli Dragon, Roller Coaster, Twister, Jurassic Adventure and Tivoli Agua, the biggest flume ride on the costa. Entertainment except for the concerts is included in the price, so with theme bars and restaurants, live western and flamenco shows a visit to Tivoli World is a must. Located by the railway station in centre of Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena Costa.

Selwo Nature Reserve
Selwo is the coast’s top attraction and is home to over 2000 animals from 5 continents living in semi liberty and in their own recreated environment. Explored on foot and by all-terrain trucks, you can cross a wooden bridge and explore the separate routes where different species live in harmony. The Valley route to see lions and tigers, or the Sabana route for rhinoceros, ostrich, elephants, antelopes and zebras. A wonderful day out – so wear strong shoes, find your camera and enjoy.
