Villa Location
This villa is located at the foot of the Montgo Mountain in Javea. It's less than 10 minutes' drive from Javea's Arenal sandy beach with its bars, restaurants, shops and activities. The pebbly La Grava beach by the port is slightly closer, and you can buy your fish fresh from the boats too. What's more Javea Old town is just a few minutes' drive away where you can wander around the cobbled streets, visit the museum or just enjoy a cold drink at one of the bars and restaurants.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

You'll find the nearest supermarket just a few minutes' drive from the villa. The market comes to Javea Old Town, 5 minutes' drive away, every Thursday morning selling an array of goods including shoes and local produce. There's also an indoor market open most mornings, next to the church, which has a wide selection of local and other products, mainly food and drink based. Why not stock up for a BBQ back at the villa? The cobbled lanes in the old town are great to wander around with boutiques to browse. There are several shops along and near the Arenal Promenade too.

Bars and restaurants

There is a restaurant just a couple of minutes' drive or 10 minutes' walk from Villa Mellissa. Javea is split into 3 parts, each with their own selection of bars and restaurants. You have the main beach - Arenal - where the promenade is lined with bars and restaurants, as well as the port offering more to sample. Lastly, the old town, with its little streets, bars, restaurants and, of course, the fiestas, is well worth a visit.

The main Blue Flag Arenal Beach offers sand gently sloping into the water and plenty of water sports, around 10 minutes away from the villa. Alternatively, try the pebbly cove of Granadella, which has been awarded best beach of Spain several years running. Javea has so many different beaches, mainly pebbles or rocky coves - great fun for snorkelling. For a more gentle, lazy day, stick with the Arenal or La Grava beaches where you can also try out the huge bouncy castle on the water (height of season only).

Family fun

Javea has so much to offer with many outdoor activities including mini golf, paintballing, tennis, go-karting, and paddle tennis. There are so many different types of water sports to try such as paddle boarding, jet ski tours, boat trips, banana rides, scuba, jet boats and jet boots, plus so much more.

Places of interest

Locally, the old town of Javea is steeped in history and simply must be explored. Denia Castle, 15 minutes' drive away, is worth a visit to look around the ruins, then take a wander down Marquesa de Campo Street for some tapas and shopping. Even the little village of Moraira, 15 minutes away by car, has a tiny castle right on the waters' edge. Further afield both Valencia and Alicante are beautiful cities to visit.

Javea has 2 golf courses, the Marriott Hotel and Spa and Javea Golf Club, a 9-hole course.

Other activities

Montgo Mountain has many marked walks from easy to more advanced levels. Alternatively, take a drive over to Calpe and walk up the Ifach rock before chilling out in one of the many restaurants along the sandy beach promenade.

Activities and things to do
Javea Port Resorts
The port of Javea in Costa Blanca is lined with a wonderful variety of restaurants and shopping areas combining the traditional Spanish feel of the old fishing village with the modern sophisticated marina. La Grava beach stretches from the port area towards the modern facilities of the Arenal beach, dotted with beach bars during the summer months

This stretch of coast varies from the bright lights and sophisticated bars and restaurants of the Arenal area to the peaceful coves of Granadella and the harbour side fish restaurants of the old port. You can buy your fish fresh from the boats in the harbour.

The Spanish hold several festivals throughout the year - the Moors and Christians Festival is held midway through July, commemorating the battles which were once fought over Javea. Mock battles take place with gunfire in the port when boatloads of Moors arrive. The reenactment of these battles is very realistic and the costumes are great.

The day of ‘Nuestra Senora del Carmen’ is held on 16 July in the port of Javea. The fishermen take a model of the Virgin with wreathes of flowers out to sea. The boats make their way round the lighthouse, Cabo la Nao, and blessings are carried out for everyone who goes to sea.

The Spanish hold their main festival during August in Javea Port where there is singing, dancing and eating. The girls dress in traditional Spanish costumes and the day ends with a firework display.

Visit the church La Virgin de Loreto, built in the 1960’s, which has a modern feel and the ceiling resembles the bottom of a boat.

Javea and its surrounding countryside can be viewed by visiting the old windmill situated above the Port.
