Villas in Tias Resort

Holidays in Lanzarote’s second largest town offer a glimpse into an authentically Canarian way of life. Expect to mingle with the locals over tapas at a friendly restaurant and queue with residents for your bread from the bakery. You won’t find many tourists here but there’s plenty to keep you entertained on a relaxing villa escape. The mountain backdrop and the views of the coastline from Tias’ elevated setting are wonderful. It's also dotted with 16th century architecture to admire and hosts many folklore festivals, especially during the month of June. Plus, there’s an attractive 18-hole golf course in between Tias and Puerto del Carmen. If you’re craving a wilder setting, the island’s most popular resort, Puerto del Carmen, is only a 10 minute drive away, and offers lively bars, plentiful restaurants and miles of sandy beaches.

Exploring Tias On Villa Holidays
Tias

Local Markets and Shopping

Tias is well equipped with plenty of shopping facilities able to cater for all your holiday needs. There is a large supermarket, a winery, butcher’s and several bakeries, perfect for picking up some sweet treats. There is also a specialist supermarket ‘La Boqueria de Tias’ that sells locally produced goods such as wine, beer and jams, plus a wide variety of fresh goods. Head into Puerto del Carmen for more choice, where you’ll find many shops offering souvenirs, knick-knacks and trinkets.

Bars and Restaurants

You won’t run out of restaurants within Tias as you’ll find plenty of eateries serving local dishes such as tapas, international cuisine, including pizza and burger restaurants. The nearby harbour in Puerto del Carmen has some of the best seafood restaurants on the island, and if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then the resort’s central promenade has a wide range of options.

Beaches

Along the coast of Puerto del Carmen is Playa Grande Beach. This long sandy shoreline has plenty of water sports on offer as well as sunbeds and parasols to hire. Just along the coast is a smaller cove, Playa Chica, next to the Old Town harbour. With an abundance of marine life, this beach is great for diving and snorkelling. Various water sports are also on offer at this beach and hammocks and sunbeds can be rented. For those looking for adrenaline fuelled fun, Playa Pocillos Beach is also nearby and is very popular for windsurfing and kiting.

Family Fun

Tias has many great family friendly activities available within a short drive. Spend the day in nearby Puerto del Carmen at Rancho Texas Theme Park, a zoo with plenty of exotic animals and a water park perfect for cooling off. By night, this theme park turns into a Wild West themed evening with dancing and a BBQ. You could also engage in some friendly competition at the mini golf course or go-karting track in the resort.

Places of Interest

A wander through Tias reveals some interesting architecture, such as the beautiful Church of Candelaria which dates back to 1796. There is also the former home of Nobel prize winning author Jose Saramago. Open to visitors, this home turned museum is full of invaluable art and literature collected by the Portuguese author.

Don’t miss out on a visit to Timanfaya National Park, a spectacular volcanic landscape that you can take a tour around. Stop off at El Diablo restaurant where you can have your lunch cooked using geothermal heat. Another volcanic attraction is La Cueva de los Verdes, intricate volcanic tunnels formed by lava thousands of years ago. Take a guided tour around these natural works of art and learn about their natural and cultural history.
