Villa Location
Villa Clarybel sits on a residential street, opposite Aqualava Waterpark, making it a great choice for families. You'll find several restaurants within a short walk at the La Mulata Centre, or down by Playa Flamingo Beach. The nearby promenade at the back of Playa Blanca Beach, its harbour, the coastal walkway and Rubicon Marina are also lined with places to eat, drink and shop. The marina is also home to various water sports and an underwater museum.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Playa Flamingo Beach is a short walk from Villa Clarybel, and is lined with various souvenir and beachwear shops, as well as a mini market for daily essentials. Playa Blanca Centre has a pedestrianised street with many high street shops and smaller boutiques. For more select shopping, head to the Rubicon Marina where you'll find designer boutiques, plus a lively market every Wednesday and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00.

Bars and restaurants

Playa Blanca has a huge selection of friendly laid-back restaurants dotted along its coastline, as well as in the town centre and harbour.

It's only a short walk to Playa Flamingo Beach or the La Mulata Complex which have a selection of dining venues. Venturing further along the coastal walkway you'll come across more choice of places to sit and eat, mostly with wonderful views of the open sea. The beach in the centre of town is backed by a long promenade lined with a vast array of restaurants serving traditional Spanish dishes and fresh seafood.

For a lively night out, head to the Playa Dorada area which has bars with live music, as well as a local jazz bar and disco by the Hotel Princesa Yaiza.

Further still is the impressive Marina Rubicon which has a choice of more upmarket brasseries which overlook the boats bobbing at the water's edge. The marina has a laid-back, relaxed vibe by day, but really comes to life at night!

The sandy horseshoe-shaped cove of Playa Flamingo is just a short stroll away. You can hire sunbeds and parasols to make your day at the seaside more comfortable, and there are several beachside restaurants where you can stop for lunch.

The main beach of Playa Blanca is backed by a long promenade, dotted with many restaurants and bars, providing a wonderful relaxed atmosphere by day, and is also particularly pleasant to wander along during the evening, after dinner.

Playa Dorada Beach, on the far side of Playa Blanca, is larger and has a choice of water sports on offer, as well as a handful of eateries.

The golden beaches of Papagayo are a short drive away, or from the harbour you can take a water taxi. These unique beaches are protected and therefore do not have any amenities, so don't forget to pack a picnic!

Family fun

Children are well-catered for, with the popular, lively Aqualava Waterpark on the opposite side of the street to Villa Clarybel. There's a selection of water sports availableby the seafront, or you'll find go-karting facilities and the Rancho Texas Zoo a short drive away, in Puerto del Carmen.

Places of interest

An hour's drive away is Jameos Del Agua, part of a long lava tube which formed 4000 years ago as a result of the La Corona Volcano erupting. The first cave has been transformed into a restaurant and bar overlooking its central lake. They are famously home to the blind white albino crab, and come alive at night with folk dancing and live music.

Part of the same lava tunnels are the Cueva de los Verdes - the Green Caves. These caves form one of the longest volcanic galleries in the world, and are of great scientific interest.

Closer to home, 20 minutes' drive north, is Timanfaya National Park, perhaps Lanzarote's most famous and well-loved attraction. This spectacular volcanic landscape covers around ¼ of the island and offers incredible scenery. The El Diablo restaurant within the park is well worth visiting, as it uses the geothermal heat to cook by placing a large grill over a deep pit. There's a small entry fee and coach trips around the park are easily arranged.

There's an 18-hole golf course 30 minutes away, close to Puerto del Carmen. A more established course can be found in Costa Teguise, on the East Coast, plus there's also a pitch and putt course in the Hesperia Hotel, Playa Blanca.

Other activities

You'll find various examples of artist Cesar Manrique's work dotted around the island. Plus, wind surfing, surfing and water sports are available, or why not catch the boat across to Fuerteventura for a fantastic day trip? More leisurely pastimes include cycling and hiking - a great way to see more of the island if you don't want to drive.
