Villas in Keri

Keri Lake or ‘Limni Keri’ is a lovely little harbour with a small beach of both pebble and sand. This traditional harbour is very popular for boat excursions. Join one of the many trips on fishing boats or ‘Caiques’ as they venture into the bay hoping to spot the Loggerhead turtles. Or, explore Keri Caves, with their crystal-clear water and amazing rock formations. Around the harbour, tavernas are open all day and into the night with friendly, welcoming hosts providing the ideal place to relax and enjoy a meal by the sea. Keri Lake took its name from the wetland found there, which is still home to many animal, bird and plant species.

Keri Village, located at the tip of the south west peninsula of Zante, is a quiet village which is very welcoming to its visitors. You will feel like you have stepped back in time! Wander through the traditional stone house lined streets to Keri lighthouse and be rewarded with fantastic views stretching over the cliffs out to sea. There are a couple of very traditional tavernas in the village frequented by locals and visitors alike.

Exploring Keri On Villa Holidays

Local Markets and Shopping

Limni Keri is home to a few small village supermarkets and a gift shop. Find gift and souvenir shops galore in the resort of Laganas, just 20 minutes' drive away, along with a variety of supermarkets. Zante Town also has a wide selection of shops to suit all tastes, from jewellery and clothes, to gifts and souvenirs.

Bars and Restaurants

The sleepy harbour at Keri is home to two relaxing bars where you can sit and take in the views over the bay during the day until late at night. Mythos Bar and Rock Cafe are very welcoming and worth a visit. Find traditional tavernas around the harbour along with one or two serving a more modern twist on Greek favourites. Further around the bay, visit Marathia, with a very special taverna sharing spectacular views over to Marathonisi or ‘Turtle Island’. Just a 20 minute drive away is the small resort of Agios Sostis offering even more choice.

The picturesque Bay of Keri is home to a small strip of sandy beach which becomes pebbly further around the bay. The bay is also home to a very special visitor, the Loggerhead turtle. Zante is one of the most important breeding grounds in Greece for the turtle. It is truly amazing to see them swimming and diving in their natural habitat. Marathia, further around the bay, offers a small oasis away from busy resort beaches. Still a well-kept secret, this pebbly beach has fantastic clear water and rocks from which you can swim or fish. Enjoy the natural setting with fantastic views over the bay to the island of Marathonisi.

Family Fun

Keri is famous for its boat trips. Excursions to Keri Caves and turtle spotting go out at frequent intervals every day. There is plenty of time for jumping from the boat and swimming in the clear blue Ionian Sea.  For the more adventurous you will find motor boats for hire. Explore at your own pace or hire your very own captain for the day. Potter around the Bay of Keri on the lookout for turtles, or explore the coastline towards Keri Caves, anchoring in private bays only accessible by boat. The calm waters of the Ionian Sea also make kayaking and paddle boarding a great way to explore and trips go out almost daily from Keri.

Keri offers some of the most spectacular diving on the island. The various sites include steep walls which just keep going down, immense caverns, underwater caves, and tunnels of up to 30 metres in depth. There is a chance to see varied marine life including Spanish lobsters, large groupers, barracuda, Monterey eels and octopus. Not forgetting of course, that these waters are home to the endangered Loggerhead Turtles, so amazing to see swimming in their natural habitat. Courses and dives are offered for all ages and capabilities.

You will also find a taverna close by which serves excellent food. The scenery is beautiful and if you are there in the evening, make sure to experience the stunning sunset.

The small village of Lithakia is home to the Aristeon Olive Oil Factory. Guided tours explain step by step the production process of olive oil from the 18th century to the modern day. Try the fresh oil with homemade bread and local olives - delicious!
