Villa Description

Swimming pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area

The rectangular pool is set into smart wooden decking. With plenty of space to relax, you'll have a choice of comfortable seating areas. A covered terrace with natural rattan roof provides a stylish dining area in the shade. The decking extends towards the BBQ area, where you'll also find the games tables.

Entrance

Entrance to the villa is via a remote controlled electric gate which is shared with neighbouring villa, Maira Rose. There is ample parking next to the villa. From here, the main entrance is located 4 steps up. There is also a gate from the parking area directly to the pool terrace.

Living space and kitchen

The living area is entirely open plan and tastefully decorated in neutral tones. You'll have a comfortable sofa with a large, flat screen TV and a fully equipped kitchen complete with a small table and chairs. Patio doors lead directly out to the covered terrace and pool.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The double bedroom is separated from the living space by a dividing wall. It's decorated in natural shades with a stylish open wardrobe. Patio doors lead outside so you can go from your bed to the pool in no time! The separate shower room is modern in style with a fantastic walk in shower.

Villa Location

Villa Maira Azalea is an ideal base for relaxing by day and exploring by night. Located in Alykes, the setting offers traditional charm plus a plethora of choice when it comes to dining out. There's also a beautiful sandy beach to enjoy. The villa is located under half an hours' drive away from the island's capital, Zante Town, with its local tavernas and town squares ideal for strolling through. What's more, the popular resort of Tsilivi can be reached in a short drive, while easy access to the north of the island means you can explore fabulous hidden gems. The villa is semi-detached with Villa Maira Rose next door. Larger parties can make use of the interconnecting gate between the two villas, which will be locked when not required.

Local markets and shopping

Both Alykes and neighbouring Alykanas offer a wealth of souvenir shops to browse along their main streets and winding side roads. Zante Town, 25 minutes' drive away, has a wide selection of shops to suit all tastes, from jewellery and clothes, to gifts and souvenirs. For daily essentials, there's a mini market 5 minutes' walk away.

Bars and restaurants

Traditional tavernas offering delicious local delicacies and a spattering of more modern restaurants can be found along the resort's main road and beach front. They can be reached in a short walk. Both Alykes and neighbouring Alykanas still maintain a friendly, traditional charm but offer plenty of dining options. There are traditional Greek restaurants as well as international cuisine such as Chinese, Italian and Indian.

Beaches

Stretching almost a mile, the beautiful sandy bay of Alykes and Alykanas offers something for everyone. There's soft, golden sand that shelves gently into the sea, plenty of watersports to try your hand at and boat trips on offer. Beach bars are dotted along the sand - perfect for grabbing an ice cold refreshment. If you wish to venture away from the resort, travel north along the coastal road and discover the hidden gems of Xigia, Makri Gialos and Mikri Nisi beaches.

Family fun

You'll find water based activities aplenty including boat trips to the magnificent Blue Caves and turtle spotting cruises. Locally, climb aboard the tourist train that zips through the resort and surrounding area. You could also take a horse and carriage ride to neighbouring Alykanas. The larger resort of Tsilivi, just 20 minutes' drive away, is all about fun! There's a fantastic mini golf course, a fun park with amusements for all. Sarakinado, near Zante Town also has an impressive Water Village.

Places of interest

Zante is of course famous for the picturesque Shipwreck Bay. Explore the mountains by car, stopping off at the viewpoint overlooking the shipwreck for some fantastic photos. Or, drive to Porto Vromi and take a boat into the bay itself to see the shipwreck up close. Whichever you choose you will not be disappointed!

Bocchali, on the hill overlooking Zante Town is a beautiful place to visit. Explore the Venetian castle or sit in one of the cafes with a cool drink while enjoying the view over the town and across to the Greek mainland.

Activities and things to do

Blue Caves Cruise

Natural geological formations, have led to the creation of many caves along the coast of Zante. Some can be explored by boat and others by swimming alone. The reflection of the sun on the turquoise waters, within these magical caverns, gives the caves their name. A wonderful experience not to be missed.

Shipwreck Beach

The stunning Navagio Beach and shipwreck is undoubtedly the icon of Zante. The only way of setting foot on its shores is by boat, but can also capture the picture-perfect shot from a viewpoint in the north of the island.

Water Village

Water Village is located in the village of Sarakinado, 4 miles from Zante Town. You can expect a thrill a minute with plenty to do for all the family. Slide head first on a mat-racer side, get lost down the black hole, and try the Free Fall if you dare! Younger children are catered for too with a dedicated Splash Zone and there's a lazy river for a more leisurely ride. Water Village makes a fantastic day out.

Zante Town

This vibrant coastal town is the capital of Zante, with a strong Venetian influence that comes to life at night. Combining top notch history, culture, shopping and dining, it’s definitely worth the trip out. By day, wander the cobbled streets up to the Venetian castle or enjoy a Greek Meze along the waterfront. And by night, venture to one of the many bars and restaurants in town itself or head to Bochali Hill and enjoy a drink overlooking the twinkling lights of the town, below.
