Villa Description
Swimming pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area

A salt water pool sits at the bottom of the villa, surrounded by a small terrace dotted with comfortable bean bags. To one side of the pool, a staircase leads down to the lower level balcony, or up to the shaded ground floor terrace with an alfresco dining set and brick BBQ. Stairs on the other side of the pool take you up to a sunbathing terrace where you can laze on sunbeds while admiring the views. At the side of the villa, you can access the external staircase which leads up to the villa's main entrance.

Entrance

The villa is located on a track lane. A steep gated driveway, shared with our neighbouring Villa Lunaria, leads to the villa entrance. There is parking space for your hire car to the side of the villa. The front door is located 1 step up and opens into the living space on the second floor. To the side of the villa, an external staircase leads down to the ground floor terrace, with access to the pool below.

Due to the steep incline from the villa up to the road mid-size vehicles (Group 1C or D) only should be hired.

Living space

Elegant and open plan, the stylish living space is located on the second floor, with incredible sea views. There's a comfortable sofa, feature fireplace, 2 armchairs and a flat screen TV. Adjacent, you'll have a modern kitchen with a central island and a chic dining table. 2 sets of patio doors lead out to an impressive balcony. Here, you can relax on the outdoor furniture and take in the panoramic sea views. On the first floor, there is also a handy utility area.

The ground floor accommodation can be accessed via the external staircase and has a kitchenette, plus a table and chairs. Patio doors open out to the dining terrace.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

All bedrooms have sea views, plenty of natural light and tasteful decor. The first floor has 3 bedrooms, each with access to a large balcony that spans this level. There is a double bedroom with an en suite shower room, plus a further double and twin bedroom. A shared bathroom complete with separate shower cubicle is also on the first floor. The second floor also has a WC.

On the ground floor there is a bright double bedroom with patio doors that open on to the terrace, plus a shower room.

Villa Location
Perched on a picturesque hillside with wonderful sea views, Villa Oliva has an enviable location. Just a 5 minute drive away is Spartilas, a traditional Greek village with a couple of laid back dining options. Alternatively, you can explore the livelier settings of Barbati and Ipsos, both reachable within a 15 minute drive. Here you'll find beautiful beaches and a wide variety of bars and restaurants to choose from. There are a number of other nearby resorts waiting to be explored, each offering their own unique charm, such as Nissaki and Kalami. Our Villa Lunaria is next door while Villa Athiri House is nearby.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Nearby, you'll find a few small shops as well as a bakery in Spartilas. Alternatively, Barbati and Ipsos have plenty of shops selling beach essentials and souvenirs as well as mini markets and a small supermarket for those daily necessities. Corfu Town, 30 minutes' drive away, has larger shops, boutiques and also a farmers' market, open each weekday morning. Why not stock up on fresh, local produce for a BBQ back at the villa?

Bars and restaurants

In Spartilas village, you can experience the local delights of traditional eateries, which include a cafe and restaurant. Alternatively, Barbati and Ipsos have a host of options. From the bars and tavernas dotted along Barbati Beach, to the lively cafes and restaurants of Ipsos resort, you'll be spoiled for choice. A little further afield, there are plenty more charming locations with seaside dining options, such as Nissaki, Agni and Kalami Bay to the north.

Beaches

Closest to the villa is Barbati Beach, a long pebbly bay with plenty of beach bars and cafes along the shoreline, ideal for keeping cool in the Greek sunshine. Venture north along the coast and you'll find many more coves and bays to explore. Kalamaki and Roda, approximately 40 minutes' drive away, are great sandy options well worth visiting.

Family fun

Family fun in Corfu is often centred around beach activities, with watersports readily available. For example, the pebble beach at Ipsos has children's inflatables in the water. Or, head to Aqualand waterpark, 45 minutes' drive from the villa. With slides of all heights, lazy rivers and a splash zone for little ones, there's plenty of fun to be had.

Places of interest

Corfu Town is home to elegant shopping arcades and narrow, winding streets that are a joy to wander through. With 2 Venetian fortresses and a beautiful marina, there's plenty to see. You'll also find a great selection of bars and restaurants catering to a range of tastes, as well as many ice cream shops to help you cool off. Alternatively, take a scenic drive up to Mount Pantokrator, with vista points en route. At the top, you're rewarded with sweeping views across the island and sparkling sea.

Golf

The island's only golf course is located approximately an hour's drive south, near the town of Ermones.

Other activities

Kalami Bay is a 30 minute drive from the villa. Known as the location for the White House, this former home of Laurence Durrell is well worth exploring. There's also Kassiopi with its pretty pebble beach, attractive harbour and Byzantine castle ruins.

Activities and things to do
Activity
Corfu Golf Club
Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.

Activity
Kalami
Kalami is on the North East Coast of Corfu nestled between the mountains and the sea and gives your holiday a real taste of authentic Greece. This traditional village is in a really beautiful setting surrounded by olive and cypress groves, beneath hillsides perfumed with orange and lemon trees. The bay is lovely, with a sheltered crescent of Blue Flag beach where you can have a go at water-skiing or canoeing or hire a pedalo or small boat to explore the coast. If that is all too busy for you, just set up a base on the sand and pebbles with your sun lounger and umbrella, close to a beachside taverna where you can top up with snacks and cold drinks while you soak up the rays. If you want a more active holiday, right outside your villa there are miles of gorgeous, unspoilt countryside to explore on foot, bike or horseback. Or just walk along the beach for twenty minutes and you will come to the bigger resort of Kassiopi with a greater choice of shops, bars and restaurants. There are also regular buses to Corfu Town or you can travel there by boat for a different perspective of the coast.
Activity
Kassiopi
There is plenty to keep you occupied in and around the village if you can tear yourselves away from the private pool in your very own villa. Right outside your villa there are miles of gorgeous, unspoilt countryside to explore on foot or horseback. But if you fancy seeing more of the island on your holiday, Kassiopi makes a great base. Achavari, the main town in this area is nearby along the picturesque coastal road and worth visiting for its splendid 2 mile crescent of clean sandy beach, with warm shallow water perfect for playing and paddling.
Activity
Pantocrator Mountain
The highest point of Corfu and standing majestically overlooking the North East corner of Corfu, Corfu Town and the mainland beyond.

One of the many beautiful driving routes on the island takes you up through several small villages including Spartillas, known (along with its sister village Lakones on the opposite coast) as 'the balcony of Corfu' because of its spectacular views.

Follow on through Strinillas, one of the original hidden villages, built out of sight of the coast and therefore the marauding pirates of the time and up a narrow road to Mount Pantocrator the highest point on the island at 906 metres.

There is also an adventurous drive from the North of the island, but this is best done in a four wheel drive vehicle.

The last section of the road is better walked by the nervous but the fantastic panoramic views from the monastry and café, at the top are well worth the effort.

Activity
Waterparks
There are 2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.
