Villa Location
Nestled into the hillside amidst mature olive groves, Villa Alonaki occupies the site of an original olive press. The house is in a secluded position with spectacular views across the whole island, as well as easy access to local villages and resorts. Spartillas Village is less than 5 minutes' drive away, which has a few good tavernas with superb scenery. The resort of Barbati is around 10 minutes' drive towards the coast, and has several seafront restaurants, as well as a great beach.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Both Barbati and Spartillas have mini markets and shops where you can stock up on essentials. Barbati also has a couple of shops where you can pick up gifts to take home. The islands only market is in Corfu Town, around 30 minutes away by car. Here you can peruse stalls selling souvenirs and fresh, locally sourced food. The town also has many quaint traditional shops as well as larger high street brands.

Bars and restaurants

Spartillas Village, perched up in the hills, has fantastic views from its local tavernas. Along the street running parallel to Barbati Beach are a number of tavernas and cafes overlooking the water - the perfect setting for a tapas lunch or evening meal.

The nearest beach is the long, thin, pebbly bay at Barbati. With a number of cafes, shops and tavernas along the back of the beach, you'll have everything you need for an enjoyable day at the seaside.

Family fun

Children will love paddling or snorkelling in the sea. The islands largest waterpark - Aqualand - is also around 30 minutes' drive south, towards Corfu Town.

Places of interest

There are so many places to visit and explore on the island. You can drive to Corfu's highest point, Mount Pantokrator, on the other side of Spartillas, and enjoy the stunning scenery - the last bit of the journey is often walked as the road can be very steep. Or, discover the traditional village of Old Perithia. Once abandoned, the village has now been brought back to life and has several local cafes and tavernas open throughout the summer. Many of the alternative holiday resorts and beaches along the North East Coast of the island are also within easy reach by car or boat.

The islands only golf course is in the Ropa Valley, around 40 minutes' drive from Barbati.

Other activities

For walkers, there are coastal and inland paths to discover - an ideal way to take in the beautiful Corfiot landscape. There are also horse riding and water sport facilities nearby, and hiring your own motorboat, or joining a boating excursion, is also a great way to see the other resorts and hidden beaches along the North East Coast.

Every villa comes with its own manual, complete with details of the best restaurants, taxis, local amenities and activities. And of course, our reps are on hand to make sure you love your holiday more. If you need any advice or tips on the local area, they will be more than happy to help.

Activities and things to do
Virtually all major beaches and many of the smaller ones have water sports of one form or another available.

Generally pedalos and small canoes can be found everywhere and sports activities include water-skiing and water boards, para-gliding, ringos, banana boats and the latest 'fish' which works on a similar principal.

Most water sports jetties offer lessons and some offer courses for children.

There are very few places that now offer jet skiing. One beach is Gouvia beach where a qualified instructor has tow jet skis available for hire.
Corfu Golf Club
Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.

Boat trips
The beautiful 14 meter motor yacht, the Nautilus, offers trips around the North East coast of the island or a day or night time cruise round to Corfu Town. The boat has a BBQ and passengers will also have the chance to swim from the boat - perfect for snorkelling!

Paleokastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast.

Calypso glass bottom boat leaves from Corfu old port on a regular basis. A large glass bottom boat it takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see sea lions and the fish around the island.

Just spent the most fantastic holiday in Villa Alonaki. Thanks to tbe villa owners and Villa Plus staff for making our stay a truly welcoming and relaxing experience. From walking through the door it was immediately evident how immaculately clean and well presented everything was. A real credit to the whole team. Our only regret was not having used Villa Plus on previous villa holidays! Already planning our next holiday. Can't wait!

This villa is absolutely amazing. It is clean and modern, and the owners thought of everything that might be needed. The pool was amazing and the views are spectacular in every direction. I would highly recommend this villa to everyone I know. It is apparent that a lot of thought went into the design and layout of the villa to make the most of the mountain setting. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Villa Plus!
