Villa Location
Villa Lavanda is a detached villa with a wonderful location only 220 yards from the white pebble beach of Coyevinas. The pretty bay of Avlaki with a couple of beachfront tavernas is just a 15 minute walk or a short drive away. 5 minutes' drive in the opposite direction will take you to the bustling village of Kassiopi, with a much greater choice of restaurants, bars and shops. Our villas Rosemarine, Helios Corfu and Aeolus are located in the same lane.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Kassiopi has a couple of minimarkets and a supermarket, perfect for stocking up your villa. There is also a good choice of shops selling souvenirs and holiday essentials as well as some boutique clothing stores.

Bars and restaurants

You'll find a whole host of restaurants in Kassiopi, from the laidback waterfront tavernas lining the harbour to upmarket restaurants. There are lively bars with karaoke and traditional bars offering live Greek dancing. For a quieter affair head to Agios Stefanos, 10 minutes' drive away, where you can enjoy an authentic meal with lovely sea views.

The beautiful white pebble beach of Coyevinas is a small bay with no facilities. Just around the headland is the more active bay of Avlaki with its watersports, boat hire, windsurfing and dingy sailing. Often windsurfers glide into the bay of Coyevinas to enjoy the breezy afternoons. On Avlaki Beach there are also sunbeds and parasols to hire as well as a few beachside tavernas.

Family fun

Aqualand Water Park, around an hour's drive away, is great fun for the whole family with lots of waterslides and pools to help you cool off. Closer to home, there is horse riding available in Avlaki or why not take on a boat trip from Kassiopi to see more of the stunning coastline?

Places of interest

Kassiopi Castle, the remains of a 15th century fortress, stand proudly on the headland overlooking the rest of the village. Visit the ruins before heading down to the harbour for a cold drink or ice cream. Further afield, Corfu Town is around an hours' drive away and makes an excellent day trip. With elegant arcades and narrow streets, 2 Venetian fortresses and a beautiful marina, there is lots to explore! You'll also find plenty of bars and restaurants, quaint gift shops as well as larger boutiques and the islands only fresh fruit and veg market.

Ermones Golf Course is located around an hours' drive from Villa Lavanda.

Other activities

With a beautiful coastline, secluded bays and stunning scenery, Corfu has some wonderful walking routes for you to discover. Be sure to take your swimsuit ready for a cooling dip at one of the many beaches.

Activities and things to do
Boat Trips
Easily one of the best, most enchanting and relaxed ways to see Corfu is from the sea. Whether you are happy just to remain local with a pedalo, be adventurous by hiring your own little boat, prefer your boat to be captained and be wined and dined or fancy going for the ferries and heading off to other islands, there is something for everyone. There are various boat trips and excursions on offer all over the island. The main areas to take to the sea are the North East Coast with its stunningly beautiful scenery and myriad of little pebble bays or Paleokastritsa with its dramatic cliffs and deep blue waters. 'Vivi' boat is a well-maintained traditional caique that does boat trips up the North East Coast of Corfu and to Corfu town. Taking no more than 14 passengers it is a lovely day out for the whole family. With or without a meal included it is a relaxed way to see the beautiful coast and some of the beaches only accessible by boat. Leaving at 11am and returning by about 4pm the trips are lovely and personal and the captain is particularly good with children. There are snorkels and masks aboard that the captain shows older children how to use. Paleocastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast. Calypso glass bottom boat. Leaving from Corfu old port on a regular basis a large glass bottom boat takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see two sea lions and the fish around the island.
Corfu Town
The capital of the island and at one time of all the Ionian Islands, Corfu is a joy to discover. With its elegant arcades, narrow Venetian style streets and relaxed friendly atmosphere it is definitely a must for all. A historically strategic and heavily fortified town and port Corfu's history dates back centuries. Evidence of the original site of the ancient Greek city can be seen in the gardens of Mon Repos, the one time residence of the Greek royal family and in the Archaeological museum. Further evidence of Corfu's Historic past can be found simply wandering through the streets. You will come across little Byzantine churches, Italian platias, French arcades and a very British cricket pitch. A walk up either of the two dominating Venetian fortresses that still remain is well worth the effort for the panoramic views across the town, port and sea and for refreshment and shopping you are truly spoilt for choice with a wide range of shaded café bars, restaurants and shops open from early morning until late at night.
Horse riding
If you prefer not to do all the work what better way to enjoy the scenery and tone up the muscles a bit than by horse. There are several horse riding schools around the island.

There are two very nice ones: One at Avlaki where Alison takes you on a ride through the Eremitis peninsular with its lovely sea views, another is in Kato Korakiana where Sally takes lovely rides through the countryside from her well-tended stables.

Corfu Golf Club
Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.
