Villa Location
Villa Aeolus enjoys a wonderful location, with the pretty Coyevinas Beach mere minutes away on foot. Life in easy going Avlaki revolves around its main beach. Backed by friendly tavernas, you can be enjoying the charming setting in less than a 15 minute walk or a short drive. For a little more action, the buzzing and more established resort of Kassiopi is just 5 minutes' drive away. Alternatively, the gentle charm of Agios Stefanos' harbourside can be reached in a 10 minute car journey. Our villa Helios Corfu is in front, while Lavanda and Rosemarine are nearby.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

There's a mini market that can be reached within a 15 minute walk, perfect for stocking up on day to day essentials. For a larger selection, head to the centre of nearby Kassiopi, which offers a broad choice of tourist shops, local produce stores as well as some boutiques where you can pick up some unique finds. The historic, winding streets of Corfu Town are under approximately an hour's drive away , where keen shoppers may like to browse the markets or high street brands on offer.

Bars and restaurants

Nearest to the villa, you'll have the idyllic beachfront tavernas of Avlaki to enjoy, where you can easily while away an afternoon. If you're after a livelier setting, neighbouring Kassiopi has it all. From karaoke bars, live music and Greek dancing shows, to traditional restaurants and up market eateries, you'll have plenty of choice. You can also visit nearby Agios Stefanos, where authentic Greek tavernas line the pretty harbour.

The pebbly, picturesque Coyevinas Beach is only a 5 minute walk from the villa. There are no facilities here but you can enjoy the relaxed setting and soak up the sunshine. The larger beach of Avlaki is located just around the coast, just over 10 minutes' walk or a short drive away. This popular shingle bay has sunbeds and parasols available to hire, as well as watersports such as snorkelling and canoeing on offer. Travel in the opposite direction and you'll reach the small, pebbly beaches of Kassiopi.

Family fun

When little ones tire of splashing about at the beaches, you may like to cool off at one of the island's fantastic waterparks. The largest in Corfu is Aqualand. Approximately an hour's drive away, the centre has an incredible array of slides, a lazy river, plus rafting and kayaking available. Alternatively, there are horse riding stables at one end of Avlaki Beach, which offer excursions for complete beginners as well as more advanced riders.

Places of interest

A scenic drive up Corfu's winding mountain roads takes you to Mount Pantokrator , soaring 2,972 feet high. Be sure to stop at the stunning vista points en route and don't forget your camera! Once you reach the top, you are rewarded with sweeping views of the island and sparkling sea beneath. Perched high on the mountain, there is also an old monastery well worth visiting.

The island's golf course is situated approximately an hour's drive south of the villa, not far from the town of Ermones.

Other activities

Old Perithia makes for a fascinating visit. Approximately a 30 minutes' drive away, this once abandoned village has in recent years been brought back to life with traditional tavernas open for the summer's many visitors. Although it's received an influx of life, you'll still find some eerily quiet streets and crumbling stone buildings.

Every villa comes with its own manual, complete with details of the best restaurants, taxis, local amenities and activities. And of course, our reps are on hand to make sure you love your holiday more. If you need any advice or tips on the local area, they will be more than happy to help.

Activities and things to do
Boat trips
The beautiful 14 meter motor yacht, the Nautilus, offers trips around the North East coast of the island or a day or night time cruise round to Corfu Town. The boat has a BBQ and passengers will also have the chance to swim from the boat - perfect for snorkelling!

Paleokastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast.

Calypso glass bottom boat leaves from Corfu old port on a regular basis. A large glass bottom boat it takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see sea lions and the fish around the island.

Corfu Golf Club
Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.

Old Perithia
At the far north of the island completely hidden from the sea is the large, almost abandoned village of Old Perithia. With seven churches, a good schoolhouse and numerous old houses old Perithia was clearly a thriving and prosperous town in years gone by. Through the years it was gradually abandoned and in a recent EU scheme it is slowly being restored as a living village. The scenery and architecture of the area is lovely and there are three good tavernas and refreshingly, little else. Many houses in Old Perithia are for sale, at very reasonably prices, by the local authority. However, there is a catch - you have to restore the house to its former glory!
Pantocrator Mountain
The highest point of Corfu and standing majestically overlooking the North East corner of Corfu, Corfu Town and the mainland beyond.

One of the many beautiful driving routes on the island takes you up through several small villages including Spartillas, known (along with its sister village Lakones on the opposite coast) as 'the balcony of Corfu' because of its spectacular views.

Follow on through Strinillas, one of the original hidden villages, built out of sight of the coast and therefore the marauding pirates of the time and up a narrow road to Mount Pantocrator the highest point on the island at 906 metres.

There is also an adventurous drive from the North of the island, but this is best done in a four wheel drive vehicle.

The last section of the road is better walked by the nervous but the fantastic panoramic views from the monastry and café, at the top are well worth the effort.

There are 2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.
