Location features

Local markets and shopping

The villa is situated close to the Coral Bay main strip with all the shops and retail outlets - everything from designer spectacles and unique jewellery to souvenirs and trinkets. There is a farmer's market in the old town of Paphos, where especially at the weekends you will see the locals out and about buying fruit and vegetables. At weekends, you can buy items such as lace, leather bags, olive oil products, souvenirs and other local items. The building of the King's Avenue Mall has all the top shops in one place.

Bars and restaurants

There are a few restaurants along St Georges Avenue where the villa is situated serving both Cypriot and international flavours. Coral Bay resort is just a short drive away with an array of various cuisines. And if you head up hill to the village of Peyia there are plenty of traditional restaurants to choose from.

The nearest beach to the Villa Akamandis is White River, however Coral Bay and Corallia are also only a short drive away. All the beaches in this area have sun loungers and parasols to hire.

Family fun

Close by the villa is Georges Horse riding where you can trek through banana plantations. A little further afield is a Go-Karting track, a mini golf course, Paphos Zoo and an amusement arcade. Located at Coral Bay Beach is a water sport centre with something for everyone.

Places of interest

Cyprus is teeming with loads of interesting historical places. In fact, the whole of Paphos is a World heritage site. With the Tomb of the Kings, the Catacombs, the Saranta Colones, the Castle , and the Catholithic village in Lemba being just a few of the places you can visit. You will not run out of things to see and do.

There are several golf courses in the Paphos area with Mario's Golf being the closest, which has a driving range, crazy golf and even foot golf. Alternatively, if you are looking for a 'real' round of golf, Tsada golf club would be another choice.

Other places of interest, activities

Whilst on your Cyprus holiday, visit the Akamas Peninsular, which is the perfect place for a hiking trip. A rocky path leads through Aphrodite Baths, where the Goddess of love used to shower. The path is very rocky, that's why comfortable shoes are necessary. A walk through the entire park can take a whole day or even a few if travelling slower as there is so much to see!

Every villa comes with its own manual, complete with details of the best restaurants, taxis, local amenities and activities. And of course, our reps are on hand to make sure you love your holiday more. If you need any advice or tips on the local area, they will be more than happy to help.

Activities and things to do
St Georges Ranch
George’s ranch is located in the picturesque area of Sea Caves. The fully equipped stable yard has 30 stables and 14 paddocks, large practise arena, Tack Room and Shower Room for the horses. The experienced staff are always on hand to provide training or advice on horse management. Trekking around the area of sea caves is an ideal way to see the stunning scenery.
In the hills overlooking Coral Bay is the village of Peyia (Pegiea). The village square still retains that old-fashioned feel with the village spring at the heart. All local festivals revolve around this square and Peyia is well known for its display of plays and concerts with international celebrities appearing. There are a number of traditional tavernas with excellent local fayre, as well as restaurants with a more international cuisine. The pretty municipal gardens make it a very popular venue for weddings to take place for overseas visitors.
Paphos was the old capital of Cyprus. The upper part of the town with its myriad of shops and local market is characterised by its classical type buildings. The lower part of Paphos (Kato Paphos) is a popular tourist area with many attractions. The harbour with its medieval fort has a variety of boat trips and is a scenic spot to enjoy a coffee or evening meal and watch the world pass by. The amazing mosaic floors of the House of Dionyssos are to be found just a two minute walk away. Nightlife in Paphos can be anything you want it to be. The main area of late night clubs, and the more noisy, tend to be clustered together so that they can be easily accessible (or avoided!). There are many stretches of beach in Paphos and almost all have a large variety of water sports.
Paphos Mosaics
The Paphos mosaics situated close to the Paphos Castle and harbour, the remarkable mosaics in the Houses of Dionysos, Theseus and Aion, are beautifully preserved after 16 centuries under the soil. The mosaic floors of these elite villas dating from the 3rd to the 5th century are among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean. They mainly depict scenes from Greek mythology. The Paphos Mosaics are one of the most historic sites on the island of Cyprus. They are considered to be the finest mosaics in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Paphos Zoo
Formerly Paphos Bird and Animal Park, has expanded the zoo and have lots more animals now within its confine. There are tigers, giraffes, tortoise and lots of other beautiful animals to see. There are also bird shows several times and day and are great fun for all the family. There is an adoption scheme which would make an unusual and great gift to take back from your holidays. A free bus is provided by the Zoo from Coral Bay and Latchi.
