Villa Description

Swimming pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area

Outside the villa there is a spacious pool terrace which is great for soaking up the Cypriot sun whilst relaxing on the sun loungers. The pool has Roman steps for easy access and is ideal for cooling off. There is shaded terrace with a dining table and chairs and brick BBQ, as well as games tables for everyone to enjoy.
Entrance

The gated driveway leads to the side of the villa and car parking area. To enter the property, you go through the gardens and up 2 marble steps with the door opening into the bright living area.

Living space

The open plan living area is spacious and consists of a comfortable seating area, a flat screen TV, table and chairs and well equipped modern kitchen. This is a great place to socialise whilst cooking up a feast. There are patio doors opening onto the garden, which also ensure the room light and airy.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

On the ground floor is a double bedroom with an en suite shower room. Upstairs, there is a comfortable double bedroom with an en suite shower room. You'll also find 2 twin bedrooms which make use of a separate shower room. All these bedrooms have access to a shared balcony with fantastic sea and countryside views, perfect for an evening of pure relaxation.

Villa Location

Villa Sophia is located just a short drive from the buzzing resort of Coral Bay meaning you'll be within easy reach to shops, restaurants and bars, plus the beaches of Coral Bay and Corallia. The authentic village of Peyia is also within a short drive and has a few local tavernas serving delicious meze. You can also visit its municipal gardens, which are a popular venue for weddings. Our Villa Cypria Maria is next door.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

There is a supermarket within approximately 15 minutes' walk or 5 minutes drive. A short drive away is the popular resort of Coral Bay, which is perfect for some retail therapy with its leather and souvenir shops. If you're looking for something a bit different, Paphos Old Town is only 20 minutes away by car. There are quirky and small boutiques as well as a large shopping mall. Alternatively, in Paphos there is a farmer's market at weekends where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, lace, leather bags, olive oil products, souvenirs and other local items.

Bars and restaurants

There are a few restaurants along St George Avenue where the villa is situated serving both Cypriot and international flavours, plus Coral Bay Resort is just a short drive away offering various cuisines. If you head up hill to the village of Peyia there are plenty of traditional restaurants to choose from.

Beaches

The nearest beaches are Coral Bay and Corallia, only a short driving distance away. Coral Bay Beach is the place to head for water sport thrills and Corallia is a smaller more relaxed beach. All the beaches in this area have sun loungers and parasols to hire.

Family fun

Close by the villa is Georges Horse Riding where you can trek through banana plantations - good fun for all the family. A little further afield is a go karting track, a mini golf course, Paphos Zoo and an amusement arcade.

Places of interest

Cyprus is teeming with plenty of interesting historical places. In fact, the whole of Paphos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Tomb of the Kings, Catacombs, Saranta Colones, the castle and Chacolithic Village in Lemba being just a few of the places you can visit and learn about the history. You will not run out of things to see and do!

Golf

There are several golf courses in the Paphos area with Marios Golf being the closest. It has a driving range, crazy golf and even foot golf. If you want a real round then Minthis Hills close to Tsada village in the South West of Paphos is another great choice.

Other activities

The Akamas Peninsular is about 1 hour drive away and is by far the most beautiful location on Cyprus where you will find untouched landscape, amazing natural beauty, deep gorges and stunning sandy bays. Here you can also take a dip in the turquoise waters of Blue Lagoon or visit Lara Beach which is famous for its loggerhead turtles.

Activities and things to do

Minthis Hills Golf Club

This course is situated about a 20 minute drive from Paphos. It is near Tsada village a few minutes drive off the main Paphos to Polis road. It is set in the grounds of a 12th century monastery. The 18 hole course was designed by Donald Steel.
It plays to a par 72 all green and measures 6.060 mts.

Watersports

Water sports are available all over the island and charges on public beaches are approved by the Central Beach Committees. Prices do vary from resort to resort but, as a rough guide, windsurfers are approximately €10 per hour, jet skis €22 for 15 minutes, banana rides €5 for 15 minutes and ring rides €7 for 15 minutes.

Paphos Zoo

Formerly Paphos Bird and Animal Park, has expanded the zoo and have lots more animals now within its confine. There are tigers, giraffes, tortoise and lots of other beautiful animals to see. There are also bird shows several times and day and are great fun for all the family. There is an adoption scheme which would make an unusual and great gift to take back from your holidays. A free bus is provided by the Zoo from Coral Bay and Latchi.

Paphos

Paphos was the old capital of Cyprus. The upper part of the town with its myriad of shops and local market is characterised by its classical type buildings. The lower part of Paphos (Kato Paphos) is a popular tourist area with many attractions. The harbour with its medieval fort has a variety of boat trips and is a scenic spot to enjoy a coffee or evening meal and watch the world pass by. The amazing mosaic floors of the House of Dionyssos are to be found just a two minute walk away. Nightlife in Paphos can be anything you want it to be. The main area of late night clubs, and the more noisy, tend to be clustered together so that they can be easily accessible (or avoided!). There are many stretches of beach in Paphos and almost all have a large variety of water sports.

Paphos Mosaics

The Paphos mosaics situated close to the Paphos Castle and harbour, the remarkable mosaics in the Houses of Dionysos, Theseus and Aion, are beautifully preserved after 16 centuries under the soil. The mosaic floors of these elite villas dating from the 3rd to the 5th century are among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean. They mainly depict scenes from Greek mythology. The Paphos Mosaics are one of the most historic sites on the island of Cyprus. They are considered to be the finest mosaics in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Akamas National Park

The western tip of Cyprus is an area of breathtaking, rugged beauty. It is only accessible to 4 wheel drive vehicles and many tracks can be very tricky to manoeuvre. The best way to get to know this park is to explore on foot on the official trails with bottles of water, a sun screen and sturdy footwear. The results are fabulous. This area of undeveloped wilderness comes alive in the springtime with over 530 species of plants, many of them orchids, providing a blaze of colour. Visit Fontana Amoroza, the pool at the tip of the peninsular. It is said that if you taste the water here, every woman and every girl is more desirable than on any place on earth. Take a walk up the splendid Avakas gorge, where tree roots are visible high above you. Visit "turtle beach" Lara Bay where there is a turtle sanctuary and turtles come to lay their eggs year after year. Under the close supervision of marine biologists, Lara Bay has the most successful breeding program for the green back and loggerhead turtles in the eastern Mediterranean.

K Cineplex - Kings Avenue Mall

This is an air conditioned six screened state of the art image and sound equipped cinema located on the 1st floor of the Kings Avenue Mall. Films are shown usually in 3 different sittings and are mainly in English with Greek subtitles. Refreshments are available to purchase.

Latchi

Latchi the place where the land meets the sea, the stunning mountain range of the Akamas National park drop down to crystal clear waters as far as the eye can see. A village where old meets new in perfect harmony, fishing boats laden with nets side by side the pleasure boats in the lovely marina.

Watersports and diving huts divide the walkways from the array of local tavernas, restaurants and chic cafes. Local children play and dive in the water as the boats are set up for the next catch of the day. Cuisine along the marina is local, international and seafood which will satisfy anyone’s palette. Small shops and Kiosks are dotted around ideal for picking up a souvenir or just a cold refreshing drink.

Just along from the marina is a shingle beach where you can be adventurous with the watersports facilities, go diving with P.A.D.I certified divers or simply soak up the sun in this Mediterranean delight. In the evening there are some lively bars and cafes to wile the night away with a cool refreshment.
